Anjali Thevananther
Pianist

Anjali has been studying piano at the International Music Academy with Katarina Loudermilk for 10 years, and is currently a student in the piano program at the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX.  


During her study she has enjoyed a great variety of concert experiences.  She has been awarded First Prize with Special Honors Plus at the Chopin Society of Texas Sonatina and Sonata International Youth Piano Competition for three years (2018, 2020, 2022) and was performed in the winner’s recital at Carnegie Hall in 2018.  She received Second Place in the 2021 Rocky Mountain Winter Music Festival, and First Place in the 2022 Red Maple Spring Music Festival, and performed in the Winner’s Recital in Toronto in August 2022.  In Dec 2022 she performed as a guest artist for the Montrose Project in a special concert celebrating woman composers at the Steinway Gallery in Houston.  She received third place at the Blinn College piano competition in Feb 2023.  She has received special recognition at her music school, including invitations to perform in a Master Class with Dr Robert Roux in Jan 2024, and in the highly selective IMA “Concert of Champions” in Apr 2024, and she was accepted to and participated in the Oberlin Summer Piano Festival in 2024.  


Anjali also performs on a piano duet team, which has earned accolades including first place and second place, respectively, in 2023 and 2024 in the Houston Music Teachers Association Ensemble Competition, and second place in the 2024 TMTA (Texas Music Teachers Association) Ensemble Competition.  


Anjali lives with her parents and younger brother in Houston, Texas, USA.  When she is not playing piano, she enjoys listening to many types of music, crocheting and crafting, reading, and relaxing with her dog Cooper.  She also studies and performs traditional Indian (Bharatanatyam) dance.
